Unplug all devices that you do not use daily

Why should you do this?
Did you know that an internet box on standby mode consumes more electricity over a year than a whole household in some developing countries ? (The New York Times, 2016). The cost of energy consumed by sleeping game consoles alone in the UK in 2019 was estimated to be £231million (about $286million or 263million€) (This is Money, 2019), and, individually, people could save up to £65 ($80 or 74€) per year by turning off unused appliances (Ovo Energy, 2021). Emitting carbon dioxyde for necessary things is understandable, but letting appliances emit carbon dioxyde while being useless is really a shame.

What is the goal and how to achieve it?
This week, you will unplug all electrical devices that you do not use daily. If you are not sure where to start from, it is rather easy: check all outlets in your house, see what is plugged in, and ask yourself if you used it yesterday. If not, you might as well unplug it. If you want to take things further, you can also unplug appliances you use daily and plug them only when you need them.

Side bonus:
You will see a slight decrease of your electricity bill.
