Evaluate your carbon footprint
Why should you do this?
To limit global warming, the average carbon footprint per person should be 2 tons per year (The Nature Conservancy, n.d.). Rich people tend to emit more carbon than poor people (United Nations University, 2015). If nothing changes, the richest 1% of the world population is estimated to have a carbon footprint 30 times that level in 2030, and the richest 10% a carbon footprint 9 times that level (Oxfam, 2021). The first step to realize how far we are from this target as individuals is to start by evaluation our own carbon footprint.
What is the goal and how to achieve it?
This week, you will find three websites to evaluate your carbon footprint and do the test on all three of them. Make sure to answer all questions as precisely as possible. Take the average and it will give you an estimate of your carbon footprint.
Side bonus:
You will learn a lot regarding your lifestyle. You might realize that some behaviors pollute much more than you thought, and some other much less. This will help adjusting your lifestyle.
